08.31.15moody monday : strength

strengthWhen I was a kid I thought being strong just meant being physically strong but as I’ve grown mental toughness is just as important. Being strong on the outside is one thing but being strong on the inside is a whole other department. Since becoming a parent this has become more a part of my journey. Some days I feel defeated emotionally and on those days is when I use my physical strength to balance it out. Be strong.

Speaking of being strong, looking forward to this read…I love Brené Brown.

08.20.15book club

I recently joined a book club. This has been a long time coming because I love nothing more then talking about books, researching books and reading books. It began when I was in high school and worked at a library shelving books, it was and still is my happy place. I plan to do more book type posts on this blog: reviews, book cover designs and library goodness.

latelyBooksCold weather = lots of reading, in my book (pun intended). There is nothing better than getting cozy with a cup of something warm and a book. I’ve always been a book worm and it’s something that I hope that my kids also pick up on. I’ve added more historical and non-fiction to my list for this year, check them out:

It Starts With Food
Well Fed Cookbook
The Signature of All Things

Follow me on goodreads to see what else is on my list.

i am craving warmer days. we’ve had our far share of soups and comfort food around our house but it is time to break out the fresh fruit, salads and picnic lunches. for the next 20 days, I will enjoy my cozy house, under a warm blanket and read.

iambravei’ve been looking to many different places for inspiration on “being brave”. I don’t think of myself as “brave” but lately i have gained the courage to start heading into unknown territory and explore.
one of my favorite books is Wild by Cheryl Strayed and let me just tell you this is one brave woman. after a few tough years she decided to hike the pacific crest trail alone for a whole summer. when i first started this book i thought there is no way that i could ever be that brave but as i read her journey i started to think that maybe i could do something brave (not hike the pct alone).
